We have personally stayed in or visited all of our accommodations. They have all been selected for their great locations, friendly atmosphere and traditional hospitality, as well as the warm welcome they offer to walkers. Below is a summary of our usual accommodations*.

On this trek, the accommodations are mostly small and family-run, all rooms have a private bathroom. 

Nights 1 & 2: Santo de Serra

Surrounded by nature, this beautiful 4* boutique hotel is finished with a rustic traditional Madeiran style. Dating from 1920, the main house was restored in 1999 and is classified as part of the region’s heritage. The indoor heated pool has direct access to the garden which has over 90 varieties of flowers and plants. All 21 rooms offer a warm and comfortable space. Enjoy freshly prepared traditional recipes in the a la carte restaurant.

All rooms feature free Wi-Fi, television, safe, minibar, tea and coffee making facilities and private bathroom with WC, shower/bath and hairdryer. 


Night 3: Machico

This small family run guesthouse is located in the centre of Machico. Decorated by the highly acclaimed international interior decorator, Nini Andrade, this home away from home, is ideal for those seeking comfort, warmth, and a little taste of Madeira. Enjoy local and international dishes at their restaurant.

All rooms feature free Wi-Fi, television, telephone and private bathroom with WC and shower. 

 

Night 4: Porto de Cruz

Located in a privileged spot near to the Atlantic Ocean, the sea and mountains provide a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Some of their comfortable rooms feature sea or mountain views. They house a large restaurant offering traditional Madeiran cuisine.

Night 5: Santana

Situated in the town centre, this rustic accommodation is known for its typical houses made from wheat straw. This hotel provides a tranquil retreat with beautiful mountain and ocean views, some of the rooms feature balconies overlooking the gardens. The delightful restaurant serves tasty Madeiran and Portuguese cuisine.

Nights 6 & 7: Funchal

Close to the centre of town and set in its own lush tropical garden, is this beautiful, family run 4* hotel. This hotel incorporates a number of charming buildings with the manor house dating back to 1830. All rooms have a tv, telephone and safety deposit box. Wi-fi is available in public areas.

All rooms feature free Wi-Fi, television, telephone, safe, and private bathroom with WC, shower/bath and hairdryer.

Occasionally, due to limited availability or refurbishments, we may have to accommodate you into alternative accommodations which are not listed in the above description. If those listed are unavailable, the alternative accommodation will be of the same or better standard than those described.
