Montenegro - More Information

Montenegro is a Balkan country with rugged mountains, medieval villages and a narrow strip of beaches along its Adriatic coastline. It borders Bosnia and Herzegovina to the north; Serbia to the east, Albania and the disputed country of Kosovo, to the southeast, and Croatia to the west, sharing a maritime border with Italy. Montenegro has an area of 13,812 square kilometres and a population of 640,000

There is nowhere else you can find so much natural beauty, mild beaches, clear lakes, fast rivers and gorgeous mountains in such a compact area as in Montenegro. The mountains of Montenegro include some of the most rugged terrain in Europe, averaging more than 2,000 metres (6,600 feet) in elevation. One of the country's notable peaks is Bobotov Kuk in the Durmitor mountains, which reaches a height of 2,522 m (8,274 ft). Montenegro's large karst region lies generally at elevations of 1,000 metres (3,280 ft) above sea level; some parts, however, rise to 2,000 m (6,560 ft), such as Mount Orjen, the highest massif among the coastal limestone ranges.

The opportunities are endless, hiking within the soaring peaks, exploring the banks of Skadar Lake or visiting the impressive limestone cliffs along the coast. Montenegro will not leave you indifferent.
