Hong Kong

The part that most tourists associate with the typical image of Hong Kong is the masses of sky scrapers on the water front of Hong Kong island that are spectacularly lit up at night.  Hong Kong island is where you will find the exclusive shops and the expensive cars which are all used by the wealthy business people resident on the island.  The island is home to many of the most famous sights in Hong Kong, such as "The Peak", Ocean Park and many historical sites.  The mountain ranges across the island are also famous for walking.

Kowloon is located North of Hong Kong Island. Kowloon is one of the most densely populated areas in the world with over 2 million people living in an area of less than 50 square kilometres.  Kowloon avoided many of the British influences from years ago and every now and then you will come across an old street that is no longer used other than for access to locals houses.  The main attractions on Kowloon are the shops and markets.  Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok are the places to be to access the markets and Hong Kong island.  From both Tsim Sha Tsui and Mong Kok the views of Victoria Harbour are spectacular.  Because of Kowloon's close proximity to Kai Tak Airport, building construction over the years was limited by flight paths. As a result, compared to Hong Kong Island, Kowloon has a much lower skyline.

Getting to China from the UK is very easy with a choice of airlines serving Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Hong Kong non-stop from London Heathrow.  Alternatively, from many other airports in the UK it is possible to fly via a point in Europe or the Middle East to Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou and Hong Kong.

From your Chinese gateway city you fly on to the starting point for your Chinese adventure.

For the Great Wall itinerary, flights would be best to and from Beijing.

For the Southern Delights itinerary, flights would be best to Hong Kong and return with a flight or train connection between Hong Kong and Guilin. A stopover may be included in Hong Kong in either direction or both. Or you can use Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu and Shanghai as your gateway.

For the complete Charms of China Itinerary, flights are best to Beijing and return from Hong Kong, or roundtrip to either city with an internal flight or train connection.

Between modules, (including Xi’an) you can either travel by air or by train, in both instances we will book these. Train is normally an overnight sleeper and is a very comfortable way to travel.

We will send you details of all travel options to/from and inside China with your personalised quotation.
